Iran appoints election headquarters chief

TEHRAN – Iran’s interior minister on Monday announced that his political deputy Asqar Ahmadi has been chosen as the head of the election headquarters.
Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said the headquarters will start work on December 21, the Young Journalists’ Club reported.
Ahmadi was appointed to the post of deputy interior minister for political affairs on December 7. Before that, he served as secretary general of the Red Crescent Society in Iran.
Iran’s presidential election will be held on 19 May 2017.
